Septembre – Espaces publics – Un nouveau plan de stationnement
Début septembre, les Caennais ont pu découvrir le nouveau plan de stationnement. Cette politique n’avait été revue qu’à la marge malgré l’arrivée du Tram en 2002.
Lancée dans les premiers mois du nouveau mandat, une étude de stationnement avait ainsi montré que Caen se distinguait avec son nombre important de places gratuites, ses parkings souterrains sous-utilisés, son tarif résident inadapté et, au-delà, par une organisation devenue illisible pour l’usager.
Le nouveau plan de stationnement apporte enfin de la clarté. L’extension du stationnement payant permet de libérer de l’espace pour tous les usages de la ville. Et le succès est au rendez-vous : des quelques dizaines d’abonnés dans l’ancien mandat, on atteint près de 700 abonnements en seulement quelques mois. De nombreuses actions complètent le dispositif : mise en place de tarifs dédiés pour les usagers de la SNCF, ouverture du parking de l’Hôtel de ville, mise en place d’un nouveau parking relais au Parc Expo, création d’un parking en enclos place de la République, etc.
Cette politique vise à rendre notre centre-ville plus attractif en le dotant d’un plateau piétonnier digne d’une capitale régionale mais permet aussi d’accompagner des changements devenus nécessaires pour faire face aux défis écologiques : faire plus de place aux transports en commun, aux modes actifs (marche à pied, vélo) constitue aussi une attente importante de la population.
